Our Impact Since 2002

100,000+ sterilised

110,000+ vaccinated against rabies

An unsterilised female Indie can begin reproducing from as early as 6 months of age and may produce a litter during each breeding season. Indian street dogs typically have one main breeding season each year, with litters averaging around 5–6 puppies.

For puppies born on the streets, life can be unforgiving: traffic, disease, parasites and hunger. The mother bears the burden too. Repeated pregnancies and nursing can drain her physically, leaving her with greater nutritional needs and exposing her to infections and complications.

Sterilisation breaks this cycle, preventing repeated pregnancies and helping reduce the number of puppies born into these conditions. Click here to read more about the benefits of the ABC programme.
